When Daria Stankiewicz (founder of the Italian brand Lido) returned from several months in Venice in 2017, two things were clear to her. Venice is the most beautiful city in the world and why hasn't anyone managed to design a simple, comfortable, elegant and timeless swimsuit yet? From that moment on, creating her own swimsuit collection became an obsession. And she succeeded, to say the least.
The brand name Lido comes from Lido di Venezia, a long sandy bank in Venice that is divided into smaller, mostly private beaches. It is, it is said, the very first seaside resort in Europe and hugely popular. With good reason, because the beaches are beautiful and the water is warm and clean. Daria doesn't have a muse or a specific woman in her head while designing. 'I usually start with a simple and basic design that has nothing to do with fashion. I show the final result to three generations of women: my mother, my sister Marianna and my best friend Elise. The best and most beautiful sounding board you could wish for'.
All Lido swimwear is made of eco-friendly Italian lycra in modest colours. The designs are simple and pure.
