Soul-sister likes to be inspired by art. Because looking at art has a certain influence on our own lives and therefore also on our online store. Art makes us think and shows us different perspectives. And this in turn leads to enthusiasm and new ideas that we apply to our collections and of course our photoshoots.
/ Constantin Brancusi
The sculptures of the artist Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957) are simple and stripped of redundancy; you recognize them immediately. Brancusi was born in a peasant village in southern Romania. As a young shepherd in the Carpathians he discovered his love for (traditional) woodcarving. That, combined with simple forms, laid the foundation for his reputation as a pioneer of modernism. Today he is considered the founder of modern sculpture.
From 1903 Brancusi lived in Paris and surrounded himself with the Parisian avant-garde. His circle of friends included artists and intellectuals such as Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Man Ray and Peggy Guggenheim. Fun fact, he dressed like the Romanian peasants did.
