During their studies at the Royal Academy for the Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgian designers Hermien, Saskia, Magaly, and Hannah each dreamed of starting their own jewellery line. As it happened, they had similars view of how jewellery ought to be worn and what it should look like, so they decided to collectively look for a workshop location. What was initially a financial necessity turned out to be the seed of a fruitful cooperation, for in 2013 Studio Collect was born.
Studio Collect operates as a true collective. Each step of design and production is shared among the four ladies and they decide on the theme of each line as a group. Sometimes they are inspired by certain shapes or materials, other times a piece of furniture or certain craft technique serves as inspiration. The collections are best described as clean and wearable. The designs stand out for their simple forms and powerful lines. Studio Collect exclusively use natural materials such as silver, gold, gems, coral, and pearls. And, good to know, they only design jewellery they would buy and wear themselves.
