Soul-sister likes to be inspired by art. Because looking at art has a certain influence on our own lives and therefore also on our online store. Art makes us think and shows us different perspectives. And this in turn leads to enthusiasm and new ideas that we apply to our collections and of course our photoshoots.

/ Agnes Martin

Agnes Martin (born 1912) was a Canadian/American painter. Her work is often classified as minimal art, but she herself preferred to speak of abstract expressionism. Many of her early works depict the desert landscapes of New Mexico. These pieces include subdued colours, varying only between black, white and brown. Martin also sought inspiration from Taoism; her abstract paintings are often a commentary on her spiritual exploration of Eastern philosophies.

Her paintings of the 1970s, with their extremely light lines and stripes on canvas or transparent plastic film heralded fundamental painting. Agnes Martin died on 16 December 2004 at the age of 92.
