sage de cret

Designer Kimitoshi Chida was about 15 years old when he got into fashion. He became fascinated by brands such as Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto and wore their clothes from an early age. So the launch of his own brand Sage de Cret in 2001 was therefore a logical step. By the way, the brand name is a combination of two French words, which in short can be translated as 'wise decision'. Sounds almost like a Japanese philosophy of life, but Chida's only goal is to create something tasteful with carefully selected and treated fabrics.

The brand is inspired by military and traditional clothing with an extraordinary focus on the details. 'Many of the fabrics we use are washed first and the buttons and yarns are thought through for a long time. And we're not easily satisfied with the result,' says Chida. But the story hasn't been told yet, because what's the real secret? All items get a(nother) garment-wash after tailoring. Call it quirky or contrary, but it does result in more than special garments.
