Polder may be a French label, but it was founded in 2001 by two Dutch sisters: Natalie Vodegel and Madelon Lanteri-Laura. That is, we admit it, one of the reasons they piqued our interest. Another is their creativity, which they consistently demonstrate in abundance with their pleasant basics that can, and definitely should, be worn on a daily basis. These deceptively simple designs are made from exquisite and all natural fabrics. The name of the label is taken from the Dutch landscape, where the ladies spent a large part of their youth. And like that landscape, the colours of their designs tend towards the understated, a style which has been called ‘soberly colourful’. In any case, the sisters themselves describe their style as a blend of French boho chic, a touch of minimalism, and a dash of androgynous allure. Turns out there’s nothing wrong with a carefree youth spent outside in the fresh air.
