Marrakshi Life was launched in 2013 by New York fashion photographer Randall Bachner, together with his partner Nicholas Minucciani they run the label in Marrakech, Morocco.
The label never works with excisting fabrics from others, all fabrics are hand woven in their own studio. Since there is no cotton production in Morocco, Marrakshi Life sources the raw cotton material from Turkey and Egypt, which is dyed back in Morocco according to their own colour palette. Then the dyed yarns are spun and woven on authentic looms. Finally, all the fabrics are cut and the garments are sewn. Pure craftsmanship.
Bachner is also committed to responsible production through sustainable, low-impact manufacturing methods. He therefore sees the Marrakech atelier as a community rather than a factory. Visitors to Marrakshi Life can experience the family feeling while watching the entire process from textile creation to finished design.
All Marrakshi Life oversized shirts, caftans and dresses in so-called nomad style are very easy to wear - loose and flowing, and reminiscent of key pieces from the Moroccan wardrobe. The fabrics and the use of an exclusively chosen colour palette are what modernize the collections.
