Erik Frenken is no greenhorn in the world of fashion. Still, we’ll gladly introduce him to those who have not yet heard of him or his work. After Frenken graduated with honours from Central Saint Martins (a renowned school of fashion in London), he immediately started working for Alberta Ferretti. He left Italy after a few years to work for Viktor & Rolf, followed by the founding of his own label Avelon, which he ran for 7 years. Long enough for Frenken apparently, because in 2017 he launched a completely new brand: Frenken. The collections of the fledgling label thus far have somewhat of a nonchalant air, combined with the occasional conceptual twist. Thanks to the often subtle design features, such as flipping or oversizing particular parts, the items have a unique charm. In short, Frenken loves to surprise.
