Could be a coincidence, sure, but it's not. Because by now we know that fashion entrepreneur Bart Ramakers intuitively senses what women want to wear.
The label KASSL Editions was founded in 2018 by a collective of friends, including thus the aforementioned Bart Ramakers and Tim and Ilse of Graanmarkt 13 in Antwerp. The starting point at the time? A collection of one coat with different lengths and in different fabrics and colors. Unisex, seasonless and sizeless. For the final design, the team hired Camille Serra, a designer who won her spurs at Joseph and Maison Margiela and who currently designs for Extreme Cashmere.
Production takes place in the German city of Kassel, at a family-owned company that also produces high-quality, durable workwear for the nation's firefighters and police on horseback, among other things. Each KASSL Editions coat is handmade and numbered and stamped on the inside, making each piece unique.
The luxurious lightweight jacket is made of Swiss and Italian fabrics and has horn buttons attached with metal rings. The make is quite technical, so the coat has glued seams which makes it water repellent and it has ventilation openings to remain breathable.
After the launch of the successful coat, the idea for a KASSL bag collection, produced with the leftover material from the jacket collections, soon arose. Logical expansion. Like the coats, the large, cuddly 'puffy' bags have a practical and aesthetic appeal and are individually numbered for authenticity.
It is clear and unmistakable, a KASSL coat is more than just luxury; it is a minimalist, water-repellent unisex coat, indestructible, made to be used and last a lifetime.
A KASSL is made by people, for people.
